BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - One person was seriously injured and another was killed in a car on Oswell Street near Edison Highway Wednesday morning.
At about 5 a.m., Joaquin Barrera Gomez, a 23-year-old man form Bakersfield, was driving a 1999 Honda Civic northbound on Oswell Street, approaching the Edison Highway overpass.
The Honda had one 20-year-old passenger, Robert Cano.
Gomez did not negotiate a curve in the roadway. The Honda collided with a metal guardrail and overturned, officials said.
Both Gomez and Cano were ejected. Gomez was fatally injured and died at the scene. Cano was transported to Kern Medical Center.
Neither Gomez nor Cano were wearing seatbelts, officials said.
