Early morning fire on Curtis Drive in Central Bakersfield damages home

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A home in Central Bakersfield was damaged by flames and smoke early Monday morning.

The fire started at 2:45 a.m. at a home in the 400 block of Curtis Drive, according to Bakersfield City Fire officials.

When crews first arrived on scene, smoke could be seen coming from the roof of the home.

Officials say the home appeared to be occupied. No one was injured in the blaze, and no other homes or buildings were threatened.

Damage is estimated at $25,000.

Arson investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire, but officials say it appears electrical in nature.
