Elderly woman dies after a 15 foot fall along the Kern River near Bodfish

The woman was panning for gold by the Kern River

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Kern County Sheriff's Office arrived to a remote area along the Kern River near Bodfish after receiving a call that an elderly lady had fallen. 

On Saturday around 10 a.m. 75-year-old Helen Haiduck fell 10 to 15 feet from a cliff. 

Haiduck was panning for gold, when she lost her footing and fell from the rocky ledge.

When the Kern County Fire Department arrived they said they provided medical aid to Haiduck and took her to Ken Medical Center by ambulance.

Haiduck later die as a result of her injuries.
