BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A family was allowed back in their home after Bakersfield Police Department officials said a family member erratically fired his gun.
BPD officials were sent at about 2 a.m. Tuesday to East 19th Street after shots were heard from inside a home.
Officers said they kicked in the door and were able to rescue an elderly woman from the home after a standoff.
Once the woman was safe, officials said the man accused of the shooting surrendered.
Officials said it's unclear as to what caused the man to start the shooting.
BPD officials told 23ABC that family members said the man came home scratched up saying that someone was chasing after him.
Officials said the man had no obvious signs of scratches or trauma.
BPD officials said no one was harmed during this morning's standoff and the suspected shooter is now in custody.
