BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A tank explosion left one worker suffering from minor injuries, according to fire officials.
On March 22, at about 11:30 a.m., a crew with the Bakersfield Fire Department went to Kentucky Street regarding a fire at Melo's Gas and Gear.
According to officials, workers were in the back of the Acetylene Plant when a fire erupted from one of the Acetylene tanks.
Officials said workers were evacuated and water sprinklers were turned on in the building.
Fire officials said they isolated the tank from others to prevent it from spreading. The tank had a twenty minute burn out, according to officials.
One employee did receive minor injuries, but declined medical aid.
Kentucky Street was closed off during the burn out, but it has reopened.
