BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The American Heart Association is hosting the Bakersfield Heart Walk on Saturday, Oct. 20.
The 5K run and walk event is planned to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease and stroke, encouraging others to take charge of their health, since more people die from heart disease in Kern County than any other county in California.
The event will also have complimentary mobile health screenings sponsored by Mercy Memorial at no cost for 5K participants.
The walk will begin at CSU Bakersfield on Stockdale Highway, with the expected 1,000 participants, heart disease and stroke survivors.
