BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Pet lovers looking to adopt an animal had an opportunity to meet the potential pets, while enjoying a special waived adoption fee on Saturday.

The Kern County Animal Control and North of the River Recreation District hosted the "Bark in the Park" event, allowing pet lovers of Kern County to welcome a new pet home.

Pet owners that didn't desire a pet weren't left out though.  They also enjoyed the event by browsing pet-related vendor booths for information, supplies and fun items.

They even had the chance to meet with mobile groomers, and those that deal with microchipping and spay/neuter.
