Family protests David Silva's death

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The family of the man who died after an altercation with Sheriff's deputies continue to call for justice this morning.

David Silva's mother along with other family and friends held a peaceful protest this weekend on California Ave.

It's been more than a month since Silva died after a struggle with nine officers.

Silva's family believes he was beaten to death but the Sheriff's office ruled Silva's death as accidental.

"For me, I can't just sit at home and knit. I'm speaking for my son and since he can't speak and so I'm the voice of David Silva," said Merri Silva, David's mom.

Silva said she's started her own investigation and had a meeting at the District Attorney's office while she waits for results from the DA and FBI's investigations into her son's death.
