OILDALE, Calif. - An Oildale family who lost their toddler in a house fire on Wednesday has received an out-pouring of local support.
It was a fire that will change Curtis McDonald's life forever, because a precious gift was taken away from him. His son, 21 month-old Aiden was killed in that fire.
However, now McDonald finds comfort in faith and support from the community.
"The Lord is good. He helped us in our time of need. He has sent everybody to flock to us. They have wrapped their arms around us," said McDonald.
A local mortuary has donated all the funeral expenses to the family. Teachers from Standard Elementary School have gotten together and donated food and clothes for the entire family. One teacher has donated a burial plot for baby Aiden.
The family lost their home in the fire and is still struggling to find a place to live with their 3 boys.
Donations are being accepted through Kern Schools Federal Credit Union.
