Family forgives person responsible for alleged drunken driving accident, killing 6-month old

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Bakersfield Police continue to investigate a car crash that took the life of a 6-month-old girl.

Layjah Heath was in the car with her parents and twin sister when an alleged drunken driver rear-ended the car crash Jan. 19.

The accident was at South Union Avenue and Berkshire Road.

Layjah's parents said part of the healing process is forgiveness and they are looking for peace for both themselves and the person responsible.

A vigil will be held in Layjah's memory Tuesday at 6 p.m. The location will be held at the intersection where the accident occurred.
