Farm Day in the City teaches young kids all about the wonders of farming

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Thousands of local students participated in Kern County's annual Farm Day in the City, Tuesday at the county's fairgrounds, in order to get a little taste of what farming is all about.

Almost 5,000 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders participated in the 29th annual event, where interactive farm displays covered the Kern County fairgrounds.

Other fascinating events included the roping of cattle like dairy cows, baby goats, and even chicks and sheepdogs.

The event is the largest continuous AG-education program hosted by the County Farm Bureau.
