LOS ANGELES, Calif. -
Authorities say three big-rig trucks and a car have collided on a Southern California freeway, killing one person and leaving two in critical condition.
Los Angeles County fire Inspector Tony Imbrenda says it happened shortly after 11 a.m. on eastbound Highway 60 in Diamond Bar.
He says one person is dead at the scene and two others had to be extricated from wreckage and are listed in critical condition.
Television reports showed one tractor-trailer truck on its side on the freeway about 25 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.
The overturned rig appears to have been carrying produce, which was scattered across the freeway when it flipped.
The freeway was closed in both directions for a time.
The westbound side was reopened after a helicopter-ambulance took off with the injured.
