Father threatens child's mom with knife, kidnaps infant

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -  

A father was booked after threatening his child's mother with a knife and kidnapping the infant on Saturday, Oct. 27.

Deputies were dispatched to the 500 block of Bohna on a report of a spousal abuse in progress.

When deputies arrived they spoke with 20-year-old Stephanie Zaragoza who reported her ex-boyfriend, Erik Lacayo had snuck into her house, violating an active restraining order.

Zaragoza stated Erik tried to start dating her again and when Zaragoza refused, he physically assaulted her and brandished a kitchen knife while threatening her.

Zaragoza reported Erik then took their daughter, Brianna, and fled the scene into the 800 block of Old Pine Court.

Deputies located and arrested Erik a short time later in the area of Dunniger and Canyon Peak.

Brianna was returned to the custody of her mother and was not harmed during this incident.  Zaragoza complained of temporary pain and did not require medical aid.

Erik was arrested and booked into the central receiving faciilty for kidnapping, spousal abuse, restraining order violation, terrorist threats as well as other additional charges and three outstanding arrest warrants.
