FBI, Sheriff's bomb squad attempting to disable explosive devices in dead Bodfish man's home

BODFISH, Calif. - The FBI is helping the Sheriff's Office investigate a man found dead in a home in Bodfish Saturday.

Officials from the Kern County Sheriff's Office said a man who lived in a home on the 100 block of North Salaine Drive near Columbus Avenue was known for having booby traps on his property.

Deputies were called to the man's home Friday at about 4:30 p.m. to check the welfare of the man, who had not been seen for a few days.

The bomb squad was deployed to the home, where they retrieved the dead man's body Saturday.

The FBI bomb crew is working with the Sheriff's Office to disable explosive devices on the property.

Officials said this is a long-term operation.

There were no evacuations in the neighborhood.

The man's name has not been released.
