Felony criminal cases up 22 percent from last year in Kern County

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Kern County has seen an increase in felony criminal cases. An official at the Kern County district attorney's office said they filed 57 more criminal cases in 2012 than in 2011.
After the prison realignment bill AB 109 passed, the district attorney's office officials have been tracking criminal cases and sent thousands of inmates back into counties.
They said felony files increased 22 percent in 2012 compared to 2011.
