A Facebook post showing what looked like a person hanging from a tree started a firestorm on social media.

In Oildale, a figure that looks like a person is chained at the hands and hanging from a tree. The house is near a busy intersection and many drivers passing by slowed down to take a closer look.

Lorraine Frost said she was driving by and saw it, so she toward it to make sure it wasn't real.

"I happened to look up and see and I'm just like 'oh, no' because you just never know," said Frost.

The picture that was posted on social media drew many comments. Some of the comments questioning whether or not the display was racially motivated, but locals who live near the display said it's simply Halloween decorations that haven't been taken down and is definitely not racism.

"You're going to sit there and say that's racism, but there's no racism behind it. That was a Halloween thing. That's all there is to it, bottom line," said Timothy Dean.

Although others know the display is fake, they said they think it should be removed.

"I think it should come down. You know, it's over with, Halloween is over with and it should be taken down," Frost said.

The residents of the home said the display is from Halloween and was very hard to put up. They said they expect it to be just as hard to get down and that's why it's still there.
