Fire crews responded to natural gas leak southwest of Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Kern County Fire Department officials said they responded to a natural gas leak on the 17700 block of Millux Road, south of Bakersfield and west of Interstate 5.
Upon arrival, crews made found that the leak was coming from a tank trailer on the east end of the facility, and was holding approximately 90 barrels worth of natural gas, officials said.
Firefighters from Engine 52 and Haz Mat 66 made entry to the affected area to determine exactly where the leak was originating, and through radio communication with facility staff, were able to begin shutting down specific valves and isolate the leak, officials said.
Firefighters and Kern County Environmental Health personnel are still on scene, and will remain until the situation is mitigated, officials said.
