Firefighters battle blaze in Bakersfield park near Kern River
No homes or buildings damaged in small fire

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Investigators are trying to determine what caused an early morning fire along the banks of the Kern River.
The brush fire started at approximately 2:00 a.m. Wednesday near Manor Street along the Kern River Parkway, just south of the dry river. It took Bakersfield CIty and Kern County firefighters about 30 minutes to get the small fire under control.
The fire was located across the street from Calvary Bible Church, although no structures were threatened.
It's unknown what started the blaze.
