Black cloud of smoke fills the sky after storage facility catches on fire

Firefighters investigating cause of the blaze

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Kern County and city fire officials responded to a 3-alarm fire near Washington and E California Avenues around 3 p.m. Tuesday after an old cotton storage facility caught on fire.

Six fire engines arrived at the scene and were forced to cool down the fire before attacking it. The facility was full of wood, helping the fire continue to grow, and its metal build-up only helped contain the heat even more.

Arson units are currently at the scene investigating the cause of the fire. No injuries have been reported thus far.
