BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -
Local teens gathered Friday to help stop bullying.
It’s another part in the ongoing campaign called "Waking up Courage”.
Four hundred students and teachers representing 6 kern county schools gathered at the National Guard armory in east Bakersfield to combat bullying.
Kern County Superintendent of Schools says it is the first ever youth forum on bullying in the nation.
The teens are learning that they have more in common with other Kern County schools than they thought.
And they hope that understanding will lead to less bullying of their fellow classmates.
Bakersfield high school students Christina Torrez and Ellen Cunningham designed T-shirts to help fight bullying on their campus.
