PINE MOUNTAIN CLUB, Calif. - Five hikers were located after getting turned around Saturday around 6:30 p.m. in a forested area north of Pine Mountain Club, officials said.
Officials said the hikers left a home in Pine Mountain Club at 10:30 a.m. and were hiking to a vehicle parked in a parking lot near Highway 166.
The hikers had hand-held radios with them and called an amateur radio operator in Pine Mountain Club to report them lost.
Air-1 quickly located the lost hikers in a dry creek bed approximately 12 miles south of Highway 166, and a ground unit took them to their vehicle.
Officials said the hikers were extremely exhausted but had plenty of food and water and did not require medical aid.
