BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A flash mob performed a 'Gangnam-style' dance Thursday at the Marketplace on Ming Ave.

The local Korean-American Association organized the surprise dance to welcome 45 members of a visiting delegation from Bakersfield's sister city, Bucheon, South Korea.

South Korea is where the Gangham-style dance originated.

"It's a great opportunity for people that don't know about our culture to get to know our culture. I mean we are a big part of the community too, so being able to share this experience with others that don't know anything about us, it's a great opportunity to just learn about each other," said Edward Bae, Leader of the Korean-American Association of Bakersfield.

The group will perform traditional Korean music and dance at Bakersfield High School on Saturday night. KERO 23ABC's Erin Briscoe and Mark Christian will host the event.

Tickets are $25 at the door.
