For five years, sisters collect and present teddy bears to hospitalized children

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Give Love, Get Joy Foundation benefiting hospitalized children celebrated its fifth anniversary.

The foundation, started by Bakersfield sisters Alyson and Ashley Tackitt, collects teddy bears to give to children at Lauren Small Children's Medical Center at Memorial Hospital.

The anniversary celebration included a magic show, face painting, games and a baloon artist.

For each donation of a teddy bear, people were entered to win a family four-pack trip to Disneyland.

"My sister had emergency surgery a hew years ago and she was very scared so I brought her a teddy bear and put it on her bed when she arrived," said Alyson Tackitt. "She got all comfortable and happy and everything so I thought, 'Why don't we do that for all the little kids that are all scared.'"

Trans-West Security Services matched the teddy bear donation collection.
