BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Former State Senator Michael Rubio has been cleared of breaking any of the state's political ethics laws following a months long investigation into a real estate deal.
But he is being fined 200 dollars, according to the LA Times.
State investigators got a tip that Rubio sold his home on a short sale to the President of San Joaquin Refining Company, Majid Mojibi.
Then in 2012, one of Mojibi's companies loaned Rubio money to buy a home in the Sacramento area.
Rubio then sold the house back to the investment company and now rents it from them.
Rubio resigned from office in Feb. citing family reasons.
