Former presidential candidate Alan Keyes to deliver address at "In God We Trust" celebration

Will commemorate 57th anniversary of U.S. motto

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Former Republican presidential candidate Alan Keyes will stop in Bakersfield Thursday night to help celebrate America's national motto.

Keyes, who unsuccessfully ran for the GOP presidential nomination in 1996, 2000, and 2008, will be the keynote speaker at the 9th annual In God We Trust Celebration at the Marriott Hotel on Truxtun Avenue.

Members of the non-profit volunteer group -- headed by Bakersfield City Councilwoman Jacquie Sullivan -- will commemorate the 57th year that "In God We Trust" has been America's national motto.

The organization is dedicated to encouraging elected officials to legally display the motto in every city & county chambers and state capitol in America.

The event starts at 7:00pm. Tickets for the dinner and program costs $57.
