BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Former Public Defender Leticia Perez will be sworn into office.

Perez beat out Karen Goh to take over Senator Michael Rubio's previous seat as the 5th District Kern County Supervisor.

Her term will officially begin Jan. 7.

Perez is the first Latina in the Central Valley elected as a County Supervisor.
