BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The former president of a Bakersfield parents' association plead no contest to one charge Wednesday.
Dereck West was arrested on April 29 when deputies searched his car and found a glass pipe and straw, officials said. Officials said West had a used glass pipe and and baggies that contained methamphetamine on his person.
West plead no contest to conspiring to commit a crime.
The former Panama-Buena Vista Union School District parent council president stepped down from his position as president amid the allegations.
West had over 4 grams of methamphetamine, a used glass pipe, a glass stem and a plastic straw in his possession during his arrest, according to the arrest record.
Charges including possessing a controlled substance and paraphernalia were dropped.
