BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A happy ending this morning to the search for four lost motorcyclists in the Kern River Valley.
On July 21, at about 4:25 p.m., the Kern County Sheriff's Search and Rescue was notified of four people on dirt bikes who had become stranded near Bear Trap Canyon in Kern Valley.
The four people -- 46-year-old Joe O'Hara, 45-year-old Paul Schafer, and 20-year-olds Kevin O'Hara and Brian Schamber -- reportedly became lost while riding trails and began suffering from exhaustion, dehydration and heat illness.
The Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team and Air 5 Helicopter found the men in the Bear Trap Canyon area.
All of the men were airlifted taken to an area where ground teams could help them.
One biker, who showed signs of heat illness, was hoisted off the mountain by Air-5 to Lake Isabella, where he was then taken to Kern Valley Hospital by ambulance.
