Free fencing demonstration for Bakersfield community tonight

Fencing promotes physical, educational fitness

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -  

The Kern Athletic Fencing Foundation, will be hosting a free fencing demonstration for students and the community located at Standard Middle School at 1200 North Chester Ave., on May 13, 4:00 pm at the Standard School Auditorium.

The Kern Athletic Fencing Foundation, Inc., is a private, nonprofit foundation dedicated to promoting the healthy development and empowerment of the youth of Kern County by providing physical activity and educational support. 

“This demonstration will consist of fencing bouts to introduce the Olympic sport of fencing to the Bakersfield community as well as the mission of KAFF,” said KAFF President Lucas Dobrzanski.

KAFF has been working with local schools to promote physical training and academic tutoring. Participating students will receive free group fencing lessons and individual tutoring as long as they maintain satisfactory progress in their academic subjects.

KAFF conducts weekly fencing lessons at the North of the River Parks and Recreation building located at 6221 Norris Road, Bakersfield on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
