BAKERSFIELD - Fruitvale School District students showed off their work at the Fruitvale Junior High Library Tuesday night.
Each was a winner in different categories last month in the Kern County History Day.
The projects shed light on a variety of historic topics, like the Women Airforce Service Pilots, or WASPS, from World War II.
"I did not know that they existed," said Elli Cunanan, a competitor. "Most people didn't know about them because when they were disbanded, their records were sealed as classified for 30 years."
All eight students will compete in the state championships which begin on Friday in Riverside.
