Thursday afternoon 19 defendants stood in the Kern County Superior courtroom for arraignments after law enforcement conducted an inter-agency gang sweep Tuesday.
The Bakersfield Police Department says 40 people were arrested on Federal and State charges including burglary, illegal gun possession, drug sales, and murder.
Operation blind mice was the result of a 10 month long investigation into the Westside Crips gang.
All 19 defendants pleaded not guilty and are expected back in court later this month.
