BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - City and county fire crews were able to protect an east Bakersfield home Tuesday night after a fire started in the garage.

On Jan. 29, at about 6 p.m., firefighters from the Bakersfield Fire Department, with assistance from firefighters from the Kern County Fire Department, went to a home on Kentucky, near Mount Vernon, regarding a house fire.

When the crew arrived, they said the garage was fully involved, but they were able to knock the fire out in just five minutes.

An arson investigator was called out to the scene. No word was released on how the fire got started.
