According to the Californian, Garces High School has placed coach Jim Maples on administrative leave.
The school has acknowledged a race related incident in summer school and summer sports practice, but wouldn't say if that had anything to do with Maples' suspension.
An email from Garces administration to parents, students and family said, in part, "There has been a serious incident reported to the school's administration that occurred during summer school and during sports practice."
The email said of Garces High School's investigation, "Please be assured that that the ongoing process which has included coordination with the Diocese of Fresno and local law enforcement will continue to be meticulously conducted until completed."
The team is coming off a successful first season under Maples, where they went 12-1 with a CIF Central Section Division II title.
