BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Residents of Kern County have started showing up at the Clerk's Office to get their marriage license.
The Kern County Clerks office no longer performs marriages so the local LGBT community provided ministers and marriages were conducted on the plaza outside.
Twelve couples got marriage licenses Monday and 8 couples were married.
The first marriage license was given out at 8:30 a.m., on July 1.
