Governor Brown issues proclamation declaring special election for 16th Senate District replacement

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today issued a proclamation declaring a special election for the 16th Senate District of the State of California on July 23, 2013.
The primary for this special election will be held on May 21, 2013.
Michael Rubio recently stepped down from his state Senate seat so he could spend more time with his family.
Gov. Jerry Brown only had 14 days to set the date of the special election from the point of Rubio's resignation.
