SACRAMENTO, Calif. - A new council of retired military leaders is hoping to protect veterans in California.
Governor Jerry Brown created the Governor's Military Council to support the state's defense industry and 29 military installations.
The 18 retired generals and admirals will protect vets from federal cutbacks and promote job growth in field with military ties like cyber security and technology.
The council will meet annually and come up with recommendations for the governor and state legislature.
