BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Greater Bakersfield Legal Assistance hosted an open house to educate residents on the issue of domestic violence, Thursday.
Representatives from local non-profits, churches and other organization were at the event to discuss how domestic violence impacts the community.
The event also highlighted what resources were available for victims and how organizations could help them.
GBLA said they held the event to increase the community's awareness on the issue, which in turn will hopefully decrease the cases of domestic violence on woman, children and even men in the community.
The event was held from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and supported violence awareness month.
