BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Kern County Fire Department responded to a Hazardous Materials spill at the intersection of Olive Drive and Roberts Lane around 8 a.m. Monday.
Firefighters reported an unknown liquid and immediately closed down the intersection and a part of Olive Drive to State Road as a safety precaution to the public and emergency personnel.
Kern County Fire Department Hazmat and Kern County Environmental Health took samples of the substance and analyzed it to determine what the liquid was.
The driver of the big rig was found down the road a short period later and was able to verify the spilled liquid as a micro-nutrient non-hazardous fertilizer, zinc.
The Kern County Road Department cleaned up the spill using a street sweeper and the intersection was opened approximately an hour after the spill. No Injuries were reported.
