BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A local sheriff's deputy killed in the line of duty was honored for his sacrifice today.

Back in 2004, Deputy Daniel Archuleta was killed when his patrol vehicle crashed just north of Tupman Road while responding to an emergency call.

And today a portion of Highway 119, was renamed in his memory.

A special ceremony for the naming will take place on the corner of Taft Highway and South H.

Several local leaders were there including Senator Jean Fuller, Sheriff Donny Youngblood and Supervisor Mike Maggard.

Archuleta's parents will also be there and the public is welcome to attend.
