BAKERSFIELD - One lane of Highway 58 was closed east of Bakersfield after a hill caught fire.
The highway was closed east of Bena Road Wednesday night. All lanes have reopened. The slow lane is expected to open at 10 a.m.
A semi truck carrying produce caught fire just after 11 p.m. Wednesday. The fire spread to nearby grass.
Traffic was backed up for several miles as Kern County firefighters worked to put the fire out. The driver escaped the semi safely, but the truck is a total loss.
