BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The local man who hit and killed a pedestrian is starting a nine-month jail term.
Gustavo Alvarez-Solis took a plea deal Thursday that will have him serve jail time before being formally sentenced, according to the Bakersfield Californian.
Prosecutors said they made the deal because the victim's family wanted Solis to serve the most jail time possible.
He will not be eligible for early release.
After the nine-months, Solis will be placed on five years probation.
