Horse crashed into car in East Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A horse and the driver of a car crashed into each other in East Bakersfield Friday afternoon.

At about 4:30 p.m., officials were called out to Ansol Lane in East Bakersfield on reports of a horse that collided into a car.

When Animal Control officers arrived, they said the horse was limping, but didn't know the extent of its injuries.

When the officers examined the horse, they said it appeared to have lost one of its hoofs.

A neighbor said that a Chihuahua had picked up the hoof and was seen running with it to a neighbor's yard.

Officers said the horse appeared to be severely injured.

Animal control officials said they couldn't save the horse and had to put it down.
