Houchin blood bank is low on donations and may not make it through the summer

Donate blood, get race tickets.

Houchin Community Blood Bank has partnered with the new Kern County Raceway in an effort to stir up blood donations.
If you donate blood between Monday and Saturday, you will get a ticket to Saturday's races.

An additional 100 vouchers will be part of a daily drawing during the remainder of the week for donors who race to give at either of Houchin's fixed site locations.

Those vouchers may be redeemed for any race between now and July 27th.  A grand prize drawing of a Family Pass for Four to attend the Fireworks Night on Saturday, July 6th at the Kern County Raceway will be issued at the end of the week for one lucky donor.

The need for blood is always high in the summer months because high schools drives are over and regular donors begin their summer vacations.  This partnership could not have come at a more critical time for Houchin as they are in desperate need of O-, A- B- and O+ blood types.  They encourage new donors and existing donors to take action and race to give to replenish and maintain an adequate blood supply.

The Truxtun Donor Center is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 am to 6 pm, Thursday from 11 am to 8 pm and Saturday 7 am to 1 pm.

The Bolthouse Donor Center is open Monday and Wednesday 11 am to 7 pm, and Tuesday and Thursday from 7 am to 3 pm.   It is closed Friday and Saturday.

Both centers are closed on Sunday.
