House passes bill helping veterans receive benefits

BAKERSFIELD, CA - Veterans waiting for benefits may be one step closer to receiving assistance.
Congressman Kevin McCarthy helped pass a bill through House of Representatives called the "Ending VA Claims Disability Backlog and Accountability Act."
The bill is designed at streamlining paperwork and communications between federal agencies, ensure oversight in the claims process, and provide training programs for VA employees who process claims.
According to Congressman McCarthy, over 160,000 claims are still backlogged.
