BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Hanukkah and Christmas may both be over but Friday afternoon you have a chance to celebrate another holiday.
Hundreds of locals will be celebrating Kwanzaa at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park from 1pm-5pm.
The free event is open to the public and will include African music, art and dancing in the park's community center located at 1000 S. Owens Street.
Kwanzaa is a week long non-religious holiday that focus' on seven principles; unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity and faith.
The holiday, started in the 1960's, celebrates African American cultures and traditions.
