OILDALE, Calif - A local nonprofit, Every Neighborhood Partnership, Spirit Radio 88.9 and 100.1, Fresno Pacific University, and Olive Knolls Nazarene and Kaleo churches, have joined together to provide students at Standard Elementary and Beardsley Elementary schools with a new pair of shoes for the children in need this holiday season.
“About 400 shoes and socks will be distributed to each site. We are still welcoming volunteers and donations for both shoe distribution events” stated the Director of ENP Bakersfield, Doug Sala.
The partners have identified shoes as being an important part in a child’s life, and ENP knew the children in Oildale would be more then grateful for the new shoes.
In 2010 Joan Minasian from Fresno Pacific University noticed how many students did not have adequate pair of shoes and so Joan started searching for a solution. With the aid of a local church, they were able to help get the students in need shoes.
The Sole Out for Kids event began from the first distribution to only a few kids, but has grown to numerous locations within the Valley (Fresno, Visalia, and Bakersfield).
Spirit Radio has been a great supporter in this project. Bob Croft the general manager of Spirit Radio heard about the Soled Out for Kids event and knew immediately that God was calling them to support the event.
With Spirit Radio’s support they are able to help schools and churches to do this simple act of love and help provide volunteers and community outreach for the two distributions.
The next Soled Out for Kids events will be on Dec 19 at Beardsley Elementary in Oildale.
The group is looking for more volunteers to help. For more information contact Doug Sala of Every Neighborhood Partnership, firstname.lastname@example.org or
