BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - You might run into some backups on Highway 99 due to construction starting this weekend.

Caltrans said the south bend off-ramp to Panama Lane will be closed beginning Sunday evening.

The closure will last about four weeks.

It's part of an expansion project that will convert a five mile stretch of Highway 99 from Wilson Road overpass to Taft Highway from six to eight lanes.

Construction is expected to be complete in Summer of 2014.
