Infant found not breathing

No signs of trauma

BUTTONWILLOW, Calif. - Kern County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of an infant not breathing in the 400 block of Sudan Ave. in Buttonwillow at 11:30 p.m. on Thursday.

When deputies arrived on scene, Kern County Fire Department personnel were performing CPR on the infant, a five-month-old female.  

The child was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Deputies initiated an investigation into the child's death.  There were no signs of trauma or obvious indications of the cause and manner of death of the child.
