Inmate dies after being found unresponsive in jail cell

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - On Feb. 12 around 5:45 a.m., Sheriff's homicide detectives responded to an inmate death investigation after a man was found unresponsive in his cell at the downtown jail the previous evening.

The inmate, 56 year old Robert Lee Moore of Rosamond was taken to San Joaquin hospital where he was pronounced dead after being treated by medical personnel in the intensive care unit, officials said.

The cause of death is currently unknown, officials said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Feb. 13 to determine cause and manner of death.
