BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Kern County Probation Department has teamed up with the Sheriff's office to provide tattoo removals for inmates being released early through AB109.
Nicasio Acuna has spent most of his life behind bars, and now is just one of the many inmates getting a fresh start with the program.
"I know where this has gotten me and it's nowhere nice," said Acuna.
Doctors and nurses volunteer their services to help inmates that want to get tattoos removed.
"While they're receiving programming and fixing themselves on the inside, we're hoping to provide them an opportunity to fix the outside as well," said Elaine Moore with the Kern County Probation Department.
